Guest guest
Hey Peggy, > I learned the hard way about sensitization. Making soap....pouring this and that in a bowl....sniffing...adding more....sniffing again. Got a huge headache from Ylang and also severe diarrhea.......I can no longer even have a faint whiff of Ylang without the runs and a headache and nausea. Used to love it...now I have to say I dislike the scent in the extreme. I don't think I will ever use anything neat again and never will I put my nose in a bowl of essential oils. They are very very powerful. I have three logs of soap in quarantine (sp) while I decide what to do with them. I do feel pretty silly about it but I'm glad I learned. It is interesting....I kept wondering why one of my most popular soaps didn't smell nice to me anymore. I had no clue why until I got here and realized what had happened too me with Ylang...sensitization! I am just thankful to my toes that it was not Bulgarian Lavender! Might be you became sensitized to some chemical component in the above manner .. cause crap happens .. but odds are it is NOT sensitization. Some folks confuse multiple chemical sensitivities and/or being overpowered by an EO with sensitization to a particular chemical component of a particular essential oil. There is some overlap .. most likely more than we realize .. but there is also a clear distinction. Like all dawgs is animals but all animals ain't dawgs. ;-P On another list .. One .. you can become overpowered by any essential oil .. and some can give us a headache .. the other reason .. sorta opposite it is .. we can't really get a good sniff of an EO from the bottle .. most of the time the holes are too small. Need to let that rascal volatize so them thar molecules will slide right on up into the olfactory system. > Peggy > The Lowell McNaughton Soap Co. > www.splendidsoap.com Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
