OK, I'm fascinated by the information on silica on this site. I make a lot

of herbal oils, and they are messy to deal with (esp. transferring them

from quart jars to ounce jars, etc.). If I were able to add the silica,

blend it, and have a nice gel, that would make it easy -- I could just

scoop it into jars.

A couple of questions, though : does the silica have any chance of

'blocking' the healing properties of the herbal active ingredient, and

second, would the fact that people would dip their fingers in and out of

the gel make it 'go bad' quicker? Well, I've nevr had any reports of my

oils (they have a dropper top) go bad, so I wouldn't want to risk that.

Hi Anya,

I've used silica in my body polishes and it works nicely. I actually do not

detect it's presence when using it. It still feels like just oils. I am

not sure about it's having the ability to block healing properties, but if I

had to guess I would say no. Suppose it's worth doing some testing ey.

What about packaging your oils in malibu tubes or other sqeeze type

bottles?? That would solve the dipping fingers problem. When the oils are

gelled, you could dump it all in a zip lock bag and then snip the corner and

sweeze it right into the bottles for easy packaging.

Hope this is a little helpful for you.

Sincerely,

Margaret
