Guest guest
Oh ugh, I have a UTI. I called to get an appt. at the Dr. but can't get in until tomorrow. I asked if they would call sulfa-trim and more pyridium in for me (I have TWO pyridium tablets left over from the last time) so I don't have to sit here and suffer, but the recptioninst STONEWALLED me, and the nurse, (whose voice mail I got shunted to) isn't calling me back. Now look, I know that it is policy to see people before prescribing things - that's just safe, good practice. But I have a relationship with my Dr. and if I could just get to her and tell her " hey, I'm peeing out globs of pus here " she'd call something in for me. I'm married, there's no chance I have an STD or anything, I've had these (UTIs not STDs) before, know what they feel and look like - WHAT " S THE DEAL?!?!!?!? Rant over. Sorry, I had to vent. I hate it when receptionists stonewall you. I'm drinking water and cranberry tea all day, but is there anything else I can do? I've been using a compress of mint hydrosol for the pain. I can't think of any oils (most not being particularly crotch-friendly) I want to use down there. I'm at my wit's end here. Any suggestions are welcome. Please.... ??? Guest guest
CRANBERRY JUICE and water! And lots of both. If you have the unsweetened kind, even better (bitter, but better). Lots of vitamin C will help acidify the urine too and that makes it more difficult for the bacteria to thrive. My herbology teacher used to praise a blend of Uva Ursi, Marshmallow, and Echinacea (or Goldenseal if its really bad). The Uva Ursi is a diuretic, the Marshmallow is a demulcent and the Echinacea is a natural antitoxin/antibiotic (the Goldenseal is a natural antibiotic). Also she noted that an improperly fitted diaphragm can contribute to UTI's and she stressed always urinating shortly after intercourse to discharge or " wash out " any bacteria that has entered the urethra during intercourse. Obviously I don't know if either of those things are a contributing factor to the problem, but I figured I'd mention it as it might help someone else with this all too common issue. *Hugs* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com nsorcel [nsorcl] Wednesday, February 04, 2004 12:25 PM HELP! Guest guest
Cypress is reported to be helpful with UTI - perhaps added to a bath for a long soak (keep drinking the water!), or added to a carrier oil with lavender and clary sage and massaged over your lower abdomen. So sorry - not fun! Blessings, Doreen - nsorcel Wednesday, February 04, 2004 8:09 PM HELP! UTI! - may be graphic Oh ugh, I have a UTI. Guest guest
Hello there - let me correct my prior post. Instead of cypress - I really meant cedarwood - Cedrus atlantica. Sorry - I guess I had a major brain fart. Anyway, you can combine it with the lavender, clary sage, eucalyptus and thyme linalol as an abdominal compress for the pain. Sorry again, Doreen - Christine Ziegler Wednesday, February 04, 2004 8:43 PM RE: HELP! UTI! - may be graphic CRANBERRY JUICE and water! And lots of both. Guest guest
while uva ursi and cranberry are both useful for UTI, if you choose to use uva ursi, you need to stop using cranberry. uva ursi is only effective in alkaline urine; cranberry renders the urine acidic. sarah " Christine Ziegler " <chrisziggy@e...> wrote: > CRANBERRY JUICE and water!
