Guest guest
I have been doing some research on anti-inflammatories and am wondering if anyone has experience with natural products. Some people are saying that aging itself causes inflammation which is manifested in many symptoms (arthritis, prostate, etc.) and taking anti- inflammatories on a daily basis is a good health practice for anyone. New Chapter has a product on the retail market which seems to be of high quality. Among others, I came across some information on Boswellia Serrata standardized extract, which is in the frankincense family, now used as an anti-inflammatory. This reminded me of a previous discussion which questioned taking resins internally. Seems that the Europeans are using these extracts quite freely...also picnogenol (pine bark) which I would think is also a resin and said to be a good anti- oxidant. I know that tumeric is said to be effective as an anti- inflammatory and also ginger. Michael
Guest guest
Hi Michael, I don't know if this will help you or not, but I make a cream using mango butter, macadamia nut oil, MSM, and Lavandin EO. I have had several friends and relatives, all with arthritis/joint or muscle pain problems, beg me to keep them stocked in my cream due to how it relieves their pain. My stepdad fell off a ladder and caught his shoulder on the tractor on the way down a couple of years ago. For a year and a half, he had not slept through the night due to pain (he was too stubborn to see a doctor and refused meds other than ibuprofen). The first night he tried my cream, he slept through the night. He was amazed. So, given all of that, I think the pain relieving properties are in the Lavandin (I believe I remember reading that it had anti-infammatory properties) and the MSM. Butch or Marge will probably be able to comment more on the Lavandin or any other EOs with anti-inflammatory properties. Anya, I know, will be able to comment more on the MSM. That's just my 2 cents for what it is worth!
