Guest guest
Hi everyone, We trade recipes all the time based on what has worked for us and or others we know. What I would like to put across to you is why not take the different oils and then make a blend that works for you specifically. You are probably asking, how can I do this and/or why should I reinvent the wheel. Well the answer, IMHO, is that since each person's body chemistry is different then each person will react differently to each essential oil and should customize the synergy/blend for themselves. Here is how I go about making an individualized blend. (Maybe some others can chime in and tell how they do it too.) A.) Define what I want the oil/synergy to do for me. B.) Research all the oils I have on hand for those that are supposed to have the properties for what I want. C.) Choose from the oils all the ones that are said to work for that specific purpose as defined in " A " above. D.) I put all those oils on my table with clean perfume strips for each oil. E.) I put one drop of oil on a clean perfume strip and wave it under my nose. (make sure you label it so you don't forget what you have already sniffed). Breathe deeply as you sniff through your nose, hold your breath, and then release it. You should be able to tell if it is doing what you want it to do or not (ie; relax, concentrate, etc). F.) I do " E " above for each oil that I am working with. G.) As I sniff each oil, I place them in one of 3 categories (Love, Like, Dislike). H.) I then take all the Dislikes and put them away. I.) With all the " Loves " I take the perfume strips and choose the 3 that I love the most. J.) Then take those 3 and place them side by side and wave them under your nose sniffing again. This will tell you if you like they way they smell together. K.) If you like them great. Do this with all the oils you like, interchanging the perfume strips until you have the 3, (or more if you want but I have found that 3 usually works just fine), oils that smell the best to you and seem to do what you want the oils to do for you. L.) Now you want to determine the amounts of each oil you should use (ie; number of drops). I determine this by holding the 3 perfume strips in my hand, like a fan, and place them at different levels then sniff again. (this is hard to explain and picture). Adjust the level of each strip until the aroma is what seems to work best for you, then write it down. The one that is highest is the one you will use the most of and the second is the next most and the third is the least. For example: You have chosen Frankincense, Rose and Ylang Ylang. Frankincense is the one closest to your nose so you would use 3 parts, Ylang Ylang is second closest so you would use 2 parts, and Rose is the farthest away so you would use 1 part. Write down your recipe and then build your synergy/blend. First try say 3 drops, 2 drops and 1 drop, so you aren't wasting any oil. If that smells right then you have if not adjust it as needed. When I have gotten the formula exacting how I want it then I make up a 5 ml bottle full and that in different ways. IE; inhalers, massage blend, aroma lamp or bath. I hope this makes some sense...it is a bit confused but very easy to do.
