Guest guest
to ME, 'true' means as close to the real thing as it gets. But then again, we all smell differently. I've only mostly been aware of the smell of the grandiflorum as a plant/vine. So that is the 'true' smell to me. However, I have recently come to meet the Arabian Jasmine, where the sambac comes from. ooh baby, now THERE is a smell. But the difference to me, in oils, is that the J. G. is lighter, not as heavy. Let me see if I can ward off a question on that. lol Heavy smells, cloying, weighing on the air, thick, very strong. perfumes that come to mind, Obsession, Poison, [yep you're right on that one!] Opium, Cinnabar, ylang 3, patchouli. And maybe Red Door. I can't remember really, as I don't wear perfume made by 'them' anymore, I make my own. Light smells, for this instance, would not be as light as lemon, but more in the middle, [staying away from top, middle, bottom notes on purpose] Light in this class to ME, would be: Vivid, Charlie, Stetson for men, Cool water for men. So for me, J. G. is more flowery true, true to the jasmine vine/plant I have known all my life and not as heavy/cloying. However, that is not to say sambac is not good! Quite the opposite! Sambac is VERY nice. It's not my cuppa is all. Janine Phariss http://www.BlueSageNaturals.com
Guest guest
Hey Janine, > Michael, > It's a matter of personal preference on the jasmine. I like Grandiflorum > _much_ better than sambac. For sure it is a matter of preference .. like food and drinks and spouses and dawgs and movies and such. And I will admit that describing odors is not one of my strengths. > To me, sambac is heavier, not as true as the grandiflorum. So .. I ask you to help me .. and define the meaning of " true " . :-) > I know one gal uses the sambac along with another eo as her perfume > and it smells wonderful on her, but I like the other. It's definitely > a matter of preference. No question about that .. some odors smell great on some and lousy on others .. and Poison smells lousy on all folks .. methinks .. makes me go into sneezing and such. ;-P Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch > Janine Phariss > http://www.BlueSageNaturals.com
