I was not aware you had received two samples .. and I would not refuse a second one .. it happens often. But odds are it was thrown in after a phone con with my folks in Maryland .. your first orders were by phone, but I have no knowledge of the date it was sent .. so I can't comment. The only hard copy I have is the November 2003 sample. > Margaret said that there was some difference in the two batches and > that jasmine can change as it seasons. Its really better to come to me for information and orders instead of to my folks in Maryland. They have little to no knowledge of essential oils/absolutes .. its not their job to know. Their jobs are stocking, inventorying, filling orders, packaging and shipping of orders .. and bookkeeping/reporting to me. They should not be answering questions or technical inquiries on products .. and I will remind them .. and I can't stand behind what they might have told you in a phonecon. My missions are market research, pricing, ordering, testing and answering technical inquiries on products. Each person has distinct missions in AVNP .. and they are separate but equally important missions. I have only had two batches of Jasmine .. from 2001 and from 2002. Of course, any aromatic can change from year to year but I have samples of every oil we've ever sold .. here in Turkey .. and I just now sniffed the two Jasmines and detect no significant difference in the odors. It is usual for an Absolute to change in a sort period of time or even from one year to the next .. though we can find many EO changes from year to year and changes as they age .. some mellow and become more pleasing to the olfactory senses .. Rose Otto & Sandalwood for example. > I just realized that there are different jasmines...sambac, > (something) florum, and maybe others. Different jasmines must have > slightly different smells. I guess that batches and ages of batches > can also cause slight changes. > Michael There are hundreds of species of Jasmine .. but few are produced as Absolutes .. primarily Jasminum sambac and Jasminum grandiflorum .. but like Oranges, we can run into some confusion on the true Botanical Names of Jasmines because some plantations use one variety as a rootstock but might graft another variety onto the plant for flower production. I've never offered anything but Jasminum sambac .. from India. And never had but two batches. Y'all keep smiling., :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
Guest guest
Hope I didn't get anyone in trouble in Maryland. To their credit, they have forwarded technical questions to you more than once. Is there a difference between jasmine sambac and grandiflorum? Why do you like sambac?
