Guest guest
I mentioned making the swirl soaps oven process before, and come to think of it - I've been making most of my soaps oven process lately. That is including my regular HP soaps and liquid soap pastes. I really like the oven process! It is easier than double boiling (and since I make about 12lbs at a time its hard to double boil . Its better than direct stove top heat, cause that can scorch if its even a wee bit too hot, or under stirred (and with the wee small children it is easy to get distracted!). So using the oven is pretty darn great! Anyone else find that too? *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Chris - I too use only the oven for liquid and bar soaps. I love it and clean up is a breeze!!! I think my soaps look more " marbled " than swirled, however. -Helen ). So using the oven is pretty darn great! Guest guest
Chris, The batches of soap I've made were all with oven process too but it was in the mold. What I didn't like about it was that all the fragrance or essential oils evaporated and left hardly any scent. And I found I still had to wait to use the bars, even after leaving it in overnight. (An hour at 250 then leaving the door closed overnight at least 12 hours) Is the process you're talking about doing it IN the pot IN the oven? And then adding oils/etc at the end? -Jennifer

I also find that doing strictly CP takes more scent that doing HP and then scenting and molding, but I've not had the experience of there being almost no scent. I also do the HP at a slightly lower temp - about 200 or on the " warm " setting. > And I found I still had > to wait to use the bars, even after leaving it in overnight. The only ones I do in the mold, in the oven are the swirl ones, and I've just started doing that method. > -Jennifer *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Hi This " Soap Making " really sounds interesting, I would really like to get the directions, step by step..Like 101. I think this would be fun. I do not want to invest money into it untill I get some more detailed information. Could some one help me on this matter? > " Christine Ziegler " <chrisziggy > > >RE: RE: Oven Process Soap Making >Fri, 23 Jan 2004 14:14:26 -0600 > > > > > Chris, > > > >Hi Jennifer, > > > The batches of soap I've made were all with oven process too but it >was in > > the mold. You can find great instructions all over the internet. Heres's one site that's very good: http://www.millersoap.com/. Do a Google search on " soapmaking " and you'll find tons of info and instructions. -- Sandy
Guest guest
I second this recommendation. Kathy Miller's page has LOTS of good info, and can get you started pretty easily, and if you ever have any questions about what you've read or want to try, just ask here and there are quite a few of us that can give you lots of help and ideas. Also, Rita's TLC soaps page http://www.tlcsoaps.com/soapinst.htm has some good instruction and formulas too. Her soap making list is also one of the larger ones and a good place to get ideas from too. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com At 02:35 PM 1/24/2004, DOROTHY GABBERT wrote: >Hi >This " Soap Making " really sounds interesting, I would really like to get >the directions, step by step..Like 101.
