Now Butch, in all fairness, that is NOT what he said. That remark was

taken out of context and twisted.

What was said was:

" During my service in the United States Congress, I took the

initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving

forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important

to our country's economic growth and environmental protection,

improvements in our educational system. "

Different statement than: " I invented the internet. "

Now, the language is somewhat fumbly, and unclear, but it *clearly*

does not say " I created " or " I invented "

The legislative initiatives that he took were:

- High-Performance Computing Act of 1991

- Funding for development and construction of a National Research Network

Those were the said intiatives he was referring to.

Yes, yes, very bad language choices AL! But I listened to President

Bush say commiserate instead of commensurate the other day, so Al does

NOT corner the market on bad word choices. ;)

So if you want to take issue with the WHOLE statement, go ahead. But

it's just not fair to rearrange quotation marks. And I know you are a

fair person. :-P
