I'm friggin upset - commercial bath stuff

My kids got some of these jelly-like bath balls from my Mom in

their " Advents calenders " - you know the type that is a shell of

watersoulable thing and inside there is bathoil? Well, last night I

put one of them in the kids bath and you know what happened?? Sam got

out of the bath complaining that his leg hurt and when I inspected

him he had large blisters on behind both knees and some on the back

of his thighs as well. Luckily John didn't have any, but I have used

some hydrocortison cream on Sams blisters and they are better, but

not entirely gone. There are probably some good EOs to use intead of

the cortison, but I realy wanted those blisters gone and had no time

for any " expirementations " ;-)

 

Easily understood I more than friggin upset, but since the balls are

the stuff you buy by picking out of jars (like jelly beans), I will

not have a chanse to find the manufactorer so I can complain.

But - never ever will I use any commercial made stuff in my kids bath

again - it's back to Momas homemade concotions - either bathsalts or

turkish red oil with mandarine EO.

Sorry for your boy's discomfort, Ylva. Poor kid may never take a bath

again, LOL!

 

Didn't I send you some of my St. John's Wort oil? That would have been the

perfect soother for the blisters. You can still use it, it's not too late.

We part-time, amateur herbalists with only 30 years experience make some

damn fine cures for what ails ya. Oh, Martin helped turn me on to SJW oil,

cause I live in the tropics and the plant doesn't grow here. I was using

other, less effective herbal oils for my inflammation problems, but Martin

and Henriette, two very experienced, sharing herbalists, convinced me SJW

was the way to go. I had tried every herbal and EO relative to my severe

arthritis in my hands, and this stuff worked immediately. Please use the

stuff -- it's amazing effective for everything from skin inflammations to

rheumatoid joints (my personal use for it.) Muscle sprains and bruises

respond well to it, too, and it would have helped you when you took that

spill on the ice. It took the pain out of a 350F burn I got on my lower lip

(biting into a jelly-filled pastry straight from the oven, duh!) No pain,

no blister. Magical stuff.

 

Don't forget Ylva, this is also an herb group, and EOs aren't always the

answer, as much as we love them (and my flat wallet shows how much I love

them :-). There is no EO I'd put on a blister on a child, but there are

several herbal infusions (water or oil) that I would use.

I think most of us are on this group, and others like it, because we're all

fed up with the harmful chemicals in products. Make your own, my Swedish

sister, make your own. Oh, I've been using your Green Fingers balm for a

slight skin problem, and I love it! I love the color, the fragrance, the

ingredients, and the healing properties. You are officially an amateur

herbalist and a good Mommy to make such a great concoction. Your kids are

lucky :-)

Ugh! Its sad that so many of those things are so yucky! Most bubble bath

products out there contain an ingredient that will give little girls and

women urinary tract problems too, even though they don't have to use

that ingredient to make the foam - its just CHEAP.

I wouldn't have used EO's either. It could have caused more irritation

for the poor little guy.

 

I find a strong infusion of chickweed to be great to add to bath water

or to use as a poultice for itchy and irritated skin.

I hear ya and agree 100% mama! It really is a turn off!
