Okay folks,

This is so funny I cried. Literally. On this site are actual Weight Watcher

recipe cards from 1974...which are funny by themselves...but the comments next

to them are hysterical!

God, my mother probably had a set if them; that would explain alot of things!

Happy dieting!

Doreen,

Those are frightening. Please folks do not let this be viewed by small children

and animals.

You know, I woke up this morning laughing, thinking about those hideous meals...

WHAT were they smoking! (Well, who am I to talk; I might have been smoking it

then too :-)

Hi Doreen and all,

These were funny. Twisted....but funny.

It reminded me of my childhood. My mother was an avid organic gardener. She

owned lots of Tupperware. And I mean LOTS. We had all the TW toys. I carried

the TW lunchbox while all my friends had superheros on theirs. If they had made

TW furniture, I'm sure we would have had that too. <g>

This share reminded me of how many strange looking foods we ate at our house in

the 70's. Yogurt pops! If it sat still long enough, Mom canned it or pickled

it! I think my friends ate at our house just for the adventure. LOL!

The neighbors literally laughed at her. Mom didn't care. She kept on stacking

hay and sprinkling fish emulsion. Truckloads of manure were delivered. We didn't

have compost piles, we had compost mountains! Her veggies flourished while the

neighbors' tomatoes rotted off. She had corn when raccoons had made off with

everyone else's ears. At harvest, she'd send us kids around the neighborhood

with a lil red wagon full of extra veggies to give away. Soon the neighborhood

quit laughing and started asking questions.

I'm grateful for all I learned and for being exposed to so many foods. Today I

find myself following in her footsteps with my own kids. As I became a mother,

I was discouraged to find that you almost have to have a PhD in nutrition and be

incredibly tenacious to find anything resembling a healthy, prepacked snack at

the grocer.

Mom - we love the zuccinni boat recipe! And I'll never forget the beauty of an

okra blossom. Thanks for passing it on! :-)

Doreen, thanks for the laughs and fond rememberances. I laughed out loud too.

Take care,

-Brie
