As a research assistant involved in the Lucks Vitex Trial 2 study, I enlisted 6 perimenopausal-menopausal women as subjects in Barbara Luck's second trial with Vitex - my subjects used a mix of vitex plant parts- I did not participate as a subject, as I am neither perimenopausal nor menopausal and I do not suffer from any symptoms of PMS.. However, from working with the Vitex last year, blending it for the trial subjects and just being around it, I began to experience horrific hot flashes, anxiety and vivid nightmarish dreams...Just the smell from the unopened bottle made me nauseous... The subjects who were estrogen-depleted secondary to menopause, and using the vitex mix twice daily for 3 months, enjoyed a decrease in hot flashes and a subjective report of improved mood and emotional balance...
