Was watching some tv show a week or so ago, can't recall what it was.

Something about celebrity goofs, I think. One of the features was an

interview question Barbara Walters asked the late, great Katherine Hepburn

back in the 80's. If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?

Apparently the journalists were all standing with jaws dropped, couldn't

believe she would ask such a thing. They weren't sure what surprised

them more, that she asked it, or that Ms. Hepburn actually answered it. (An

Oak tree) I guess the question has haunted Barbara ever since, wishing

she had not asked.

Anyway, I got to thinking, what's the big deal? I think it's a nice

thought-provoking question that can delve a bit into one's personality.

For me, what immediately came to mind was the Bitter Orange Tree (Citrus

aurantium, I believe?) One of my fondest, all-time favorite aromas is

that of the wonderful orange blossoms growing from this tree. Growing up

in Southern California, surrounded by orange groves, it struck me even as a

child to be the most beautiful fragrance. I've adored it ever since and

would never be without it, even if all I could afford was a tiny vial to

carry with me to sniff.

So I would have to say that *I* would be an Orange Tree, so that I could

always be surrounded by the smell of orange blossoms. What kind of tree

would YOU be?
