Determining Quality

Hey Pam,

Not Cheryl here .. but I'll give this a shot.

> Cheryl - how does one determine if an oil is better than another?

Tain't easy .. that's like asking how does one determine the best horse

or the best bird dawg .. it takes a lot of reading and listening and

experimenting and research and trail and error.

But .. I will help you out a little bit with a few old posts made back

in November and such .. they are coming next. There are many, many,

many more but they're not in the Archive now .. methinks .. and

they're in my second PC which is still kinda screwed up and even though

its sitting beside me and I can read the posts .. I can't forward them

to myself or this list so they are like me reading hard copy.

> Do companies put out their testing results ect?

Some do .. most don't. YL NEVER DOES!

> or is it just a matter of smell?

Depends on whether or not you know what to smell for. All EO will not

smell nice .. stretching or manipulating or adulterating an EO is done

for two reasons .. to make it smell nicer if it should smell nice and is

a poor quality oil .. and to increase profit by adulterating an oil with

a far cheaper chemical additive.

Do market research .. try to determine how much an oil SHOULD cost.

If its too high then keep looking .. if its too low .. keep looking.

Lemme tell you this .. high prices do not indicate a good oil .. but

extremely low prices almost always indicate a bad oil. There are some

folks selling oils for less than the cost of production .. one person

on this list reported to me (off line) that some are selling Rose Otto

for less than the cost of production for the 2003 season because they

were selling Rose Otto they bought during the 2002 season .. when it

was $4,000 a kilo .. now its $6,000 a kilo.

Now .. lemme ask y'all .. anybody here stupid enough to swallow that?

First .. QUALITY Damask Rose (Rosa damascena) Rose Otto .. comes from

TURKEY and BULGARIA .. and both countries raised their prices a heckuva

lot from the 2002 crop harvest/distillation to the 2003 season.

If you had a product that cost you $10 and you had been selling it for

$12 and you knew there was a shortage of it and to replace it you are

gonna have to pay $15 .. would you continue to sell it for $12 so you

can hurry up and replace it for 15?

And remember .. the 2002 crop of Rose Otto is gonna be smoother and far

more valuable than the later crop.

Its pure BOVINE EXCREMENT!!!!!!!

The only way they can sell it that way is (1) They have lost their

friggin minds .. or .. (2) The oil is adulterated with either a Russian

or some other off the wall Rose Otto .. or they are using Phenyl ethyl

alcohol (PET) to cut it.

> Like you can tell....I have no clue ;-) Pam

Then hang around this list .. and ask questions .. and stay the heck

away from Young Living.

Y'all keep smiling. :-P Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
