Guest guest
Well, I'm just about over this flu, and I'll tell you, it was a BAD one this year. I got struck down on the evening of the 23rd, missed Christmas in a haze of fever, then threw out my back by turning my head and sneezing the wrong way (is there a right way?) Then the stress of all that gave me the world's biggest fever blister. Ugh. So it's been a rough few weeks. DH and I were both so sick that it was kinda hard to take care of each other, so I am here to tell you what few natural things helped me - in case anyone else gets this bad virus. Chris hit the nail on the head : GINGER TEA! I usually have a rock solid stomach, but this flu made me kinda barfy. I woke up Christmas morning vomitting, and DH was in the kitchen offering me yogurt of all things - blech! I asked him to bring me the ginger root, and sat on the bathroom floor knawing and sucking on it until the wretching passed. I spent the rest of the day drinking the tea, and was finally able to keep down some mashed potatoes for Christmas dinner. How festive! Eucalyptus radiata - I can't do OTC degonestants as they make my blood pressure go up. Eucalyptus is a life saver in this case. I couldn't get the energy to fiddle with the nebulizer, but I did steam with the Euc, Black spruce, and Mint - it helped the stuffy nose. Along those lines was more steam. I filled the bathroom with it and spent some time in there - it sore throat and difficult breathing. As the fever went away, the cough got worse. I had a rattley, wheezy cough, kinda asthma like. I got some hyssop and put that in the nebulizer and the wheeze cleared up pretty fast. If you get fever blisters, take lysine. Once the scab goes away I use the heli/rosehip blend in shea as a lip balm to help the scarring. These are all just things that helped me, I can't say if it will work for anyone else. I just hope no one else gets this flu - it is really a butt-kicker this year! Now that I'm feeling better, I have time to play with a few Christmas gifts: Melissa, Rose concrete, peppermint CO2, and Geranium Co2. Yummy! STAY WELL!!
