Guest guest
I wanted to thank everyone who sent my hubby well wishes with the kidney stone he had. It passed this weekend - with surprisingly, and thankfully little discomfort. It was about the size of a grain of whole brown rice. For the past week, in addition to the herbs he was taking and teas he was drinking, he'd been eating a lot of watermelon, fresh salad and drinking a lot of water. Maybe all that helped it passed faster and easier, maybe not, I don't know ... Now that he is back to eating " normal food " , as he calls it, he is happy. And now that his stone and his " fast " is behind him he is consciously making an effort to drink more water (problem causer numero uno) and also to balance his diet a bit better. We went over all this in more depth with our family doc and he agreed that the main factors in development of kidney stones are things like - dehydration, too much animal protein, too much refined foods, too much caffeine, and for some - too much intake of dairy products and foods that produce oxalates, the latter one being more of a problem when things are imbalanced and the body is on the edge for a problem to occur, it'll just add to the issue. I suppose it is all a matter of being conscious of what we are eating and how it affects us. We are what we eat, and diet can be a direct maker or breaker of our health. Eat well, be well! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
