Guest guest
This is a serious condition and without having a good idea of what the stones are made of certain diets can make things worse. A lot of the supposed traditional remedies are not for amatuer herbalists to play with. In the past many people ended up in agony and with severe kidney damage from passing kidney stones that had only been partly broken up by inept herbal treatments. To do the job safely requires dietary measures and herbs for months to years to hopefully slowly dissolve the stones. Personally give me modern medicine for that condition any time and I AM a real herbalist. I had/have my own problems with gallstones and so I know what kind of pain the poor guy is in. Hit me with the morphine-not the herbs! Guest guest
Hi Martin, > This is a serious condition and without having a good idea of what > the stones are made of certain diets can make things worse. Agreed! After the stone passes he can find out what it was made out of and see in what directions he has to adjust his diet in the future to possibly prevent having them again. > A lot of > the supposed traditional remedies are not for amatuer herbalists to > play with. It was one of the lengthiest topics and we had some of the most intense discussions about it when I was in herbology school. More harm than good can be done if one doesn't know what they are doing and what they are doing it with! A good demulcent is of the utmost importance! > To do the job safely requires > dietary measures and herbs for months to years to hopefully slowly > dissolve the stones. Yep, right now the only reason he's on any kind of kidney related " cleansing diet " is to keep from irritating the already irritated area further during this acute phase. After that we'll have to see what the best course of action will be, including limiting what kinds of foods/supplements, not limiting others, and making sure enough water is always drunk. > Personally give me modern medicine for that > condition any time and I AM a real herbalist. They didn't do much except give him a pain killer (basically strong ibuprofen) and an antibiotic and a strainer to pee in to After that I contacted my doc to see if there was more that could be done and we went over it all for about an hour (and he was on vacation visiting family, nice for him to get back to me) > I had/have my own > problems with gallstones and so I know what kind of pain the poor guy > is in. Oh it was bad yesterday, but thankfully he's not had any pain since ... hopefully it'll stay that way, no doubt! Its the closest a man can get to labor pains I've heard, and after having 2 unmedicated, I'd not wish that on any man ... the weaker sex ;-p > Hit me with the morphine-not the herbs! They didn't even give him that! And, ya now, I couldn't seem to convince anyone to give me that after I had the babies either (I wanted it AFTER birth, as a reward *lol*) > Martin Thank you Martin *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
