Guest guest
Hey Dorothy, > Dear all, I'm gonna stick my neck out again and try to deal with a complicated issue is a few words .. obviously, I'm gonna leave something out and it will be wide open for correction. ;-p > this is somewhat similar to the thread that Butch and Anya were discussing > but it has to do with diuretic oils. I have been wondering do the diuretic > properties of oils such as parsley seed and celery seed etc. come into > effect with inhalation as well as application or is it the stimulation of > the lymphatic system that achieves the diuretic affect more??? First .. my opinion .. why are we normally concerned with using an EO for diuretic effect .. even if those you listed work .. which I am not all that convinced on? Keep in mind I am tawking about the traditional or common meaning of diuretics. Secondly .. howsomeever .. the idea of diuretics is far more complicated than simply the increase of urine .. and I'm sure you know this .. but let me deal with it a bit. Normally, we think of diuretics as something that promotes the excretion of salts and water from the kidneys .. but there are benefits to be gained from reduction of salts and water .. like reducing edema .. which is swelling due to retention of the above and often associated with problems of the heart, liver, lungs of kidneys ... or a combination of these .. OR .. as is my situation, of sitting on my butt for 18 or so hours a day in front of a PC screen and not getting enough exercise. There are other diuretics that reduce the pressure on the eyeball .. and relieve the symptoms of glaucoma .. and I won't get into that now. I will answer your original question by saying that I have personally experienced .. for the last year or so .. edema in my ankles. And I've found that simply sniffing Rosemary, Cineole (Rosmarinus officinalis) has done much to relieve this problem. How did it work? It increased the flow of blood in the capillaries .. nothing more. When I began to notice relief I bounced this off Martin .. figured the Old Troll was gonna find some reason to criticize my hypothesis .. but amazingly, he didn't come back like a curmudgeon .. he agreed that it was conceivable based on the reasons I just presented. So .. if I am right .. the answer to your question is that inhalation does .. in fact .. help in these cases. > Interested in all of your opinions. > Dorothy You got mine .. now I step back and wait for other folks to present. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
