Guest guest
Chris, I was talking with a nurseryman friend the other day and he told me that his orchids really took off when he started watering them with rainwater because here in Ohio (even with our pollution level) it is more base/alkaline than his well water so now he's very stingy with the rainwater using it only on things he wants to give a special jolt to! Neat huh? I have the Kenmore Elite set too and it's a humdinger! I feel so good knowing how much water that saves every week. And it also makes another point: that there are cases where we will have to pay cash money to support our values. That's okay too. I hear you on the shower ... I love tubs. I'm a soaker. So, we have our little lapses but on balance, I think we're both making an effort to move toward environmental responsibility and sustainability. Jody " All truth passes through three stages. Guest guest
What's a Kenmore Elite? I have a 1600 gallon water tank here at the cabin and that's how we get all our water. Too steep for well truck up the mountain. I purify it for drinking in a Big Berkefeld drip filter. Guest guest
Diana, The Kenmore Elite set is a washer/dryer combo in which the washer uses 20 gallons of water versus the average 45. The dryer is standard. Another company like Whirlpool or Maytage makes the exct same machine. They are front loaders and require a special low sudsing detergent. The pair is pricey at $1500 but the water savings is significant. Jody
Guest guest
Oh! I have two sets of washers and dryers outside, but I take my laundry to town and do it all at once at the mat. Our cabin addition isn't added on yet, so it's easier that way. I could do very much cabin building with $1500!!!
