Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, Though I should probably let this one slide .. I think I won't. > > Countries that can't feed their populations are generally run by fat > > cats who don't have the same problems as the citizens ... the problems > > are usually caused by poor gummit policies (if they have any at all) and > > not natural disasters .. famine is a man-made disaster .. not natural. > > Conditions in Brazil and Ethiopia and other countries where folks don't > > have a pot to piss in are created by gummit and can only be corrected by > > gummit .. sometimes not by the gummits in power. Examples to come to > > mind now are Afghanistan and Iraq .. and sometime next year, I think > > maybe North Korea. > And those FAT CATS are usually supported by your US tax dollars... I think " usually " is too broad a term .. generalizations such as this are routinely used to blame the USA for all the problems in the world. Every country has other countries they support. That support is based on mutual interests and those mutual interests can change from time to time. Strategic interests can involve access to trade, or rights of passage, or smooching to get them to swing away from a form of government to another form. Historical US interests were to support any country that was led by an anti-communist .. even if he was a dictator such as Idi Amin or support them if they have an effective lobby in the USA .. as is now the case of Israel .. and so on. The point is, supporting fat cats cause we like fat cats has never been US policy .. we must have some national interests that can be gained by any support provided. We have NOT supported North Korea or Ethiopia .. so their problems can't be laid at the feet of the USA. We have supported Afghanistan against the Russians and Iraq against the Iranians .. both times events later showed that the support might have been wise at the time but it later back-fired. If we could have leaders with the wisdom of Solomon who had guidance from the Gawds we would never make mistakes .. but we don't .. and since doing nothing is worse than doing something wrong when you are the Daddy Rabbit .. our choices are to believe that most leaders in the US have our nation's best interests in mind when they take action .. or believe that they are now and have been for the last fifty years or so a bunch of idiots and we are the worst piece of crap country on Earth! > Just think about the long term USA's relationship with the current > vendetta action in Iraq, I'm not sure what you are referring to. If you mean the balance the USA maintained by assisting Iraq when Russia assisted the Iranians in the Iraq-Iran War .. then I understand. But we must also understand that the USA did not want a clear winner in that war .. we preferred a stalemate and that was what happened .. in the best interests of all concerned. > then think about those lovelies in South America, Africa and other > places called Third World. Too general a statement .. it can't be addressed. If you will be more specific I'll give you my opinion.
