Guest guest
Hey at long last relented and let me sign in again:) Good show Butch taking a rest for a while. Most people have no idea on the hours he spent everyday on his computer trying to help educate people. He also spent huge amounts of time with personal replies at the cost of his business. Most people also do not know about the recent fights we both had with the moderators of ATFE. This resulted from the overworked list owner Stacey trying to take a break and the group got into the hands of dictators. Butch myself and others were determined to stop their crap of editing and stopping posts to the group if they did not like them. Fortunately now that group is again back in the position where people can express their opinions openly. Many people in aromatherapy just detest what they consider flaming and on line fights. They want everything to be all sweetness and light. Unfortunately, those same pacifists also refuse to recognise that we are in a trade that is bursting at the seams with liars and con artists. Only with open discussion can these people sometimes be exposed on newsgroups (there is no other medium that can happen in). Therefore, I salute Chris. for allowing open discussion on this group without heavy handed editing. As someone who was in the past involved in politics I can have a heated argument with someone over policy issues, which to people not used to such exchanges looks like a fight. In politics people then walk into the bar afterwards and have a drink together. For those who think you can separate politics from aromatherapy you are living in a fools paradise. In the next few days I hope to post some information on rosewood oil and that inevitably involves political issues. So lets hope Butch has a welcome break and maybe I can fill the gap if only a little. Assuming does not keep messing me around! I've been wondering for a while about some political issues regarding EOs - like: am I helping or hindering workers in 3rd world/emerging market countries by purchasing EOs? Are they enslaved and exploited for work by distillers a la De Beers or Starbucks? How much of an environmental footprint does the harvest of plant material and distillation of EOs leave? My conscience needs to know these things.... JenB
