I'm hopeless. I want to try the vanilla beans, but I don't really know

what to do with them. I mean... after I infuse them in oil, what could I

make with this oil?

I know it's kind of a dumb question, but I had to ask. :-)

Not a dumb question at all, Sandy! If you don't know what to do with them, then

you can't really decide

whether or not to try them. Me, I'm a certified vanilla junkie, as is my hubby.

The new shipment of Bourbon

Noirs arrived today, and after counting them, I had vanilla fragrance on my

fingers, which is still lingering

nearly 4 hours later. Their aroma is really awesome, and I can't wait to try

one in something.

First, here's a page with some information and food recipes (Exotic Lemonade,

Extract, Mexican Chocolate with

Vanilla, and Vanilla Sugar). If you like vanilla in coffee, try including a

piece of bean with grinds during

brewing. Simmer a bean in milk for use in making custards and other desserts.

Think about dishes that might

be good with vanilla in it (or already includes extract in the ingredients) and

experiment with adding a piece

of finely chopped bean to it.

Well, let's see ...

* Soap

* Lotion

* Cream

* Massage Oil

* Perfume Oil

* Lip Balms

Use the infused oil for all or a portion of the oil called for in your recipes

.... wherever you want to add a

natural vanilla fragrance note (or taste). A light oil with little to no

fragrance of it's own (such as

Fractionated Coconut) is best, but you can successfully infuse Olive Oil (Grade

A recommended) too. I don't

recommend infusing in heavier, especially unrefined, oils that typically have

their own aroma.

Also think exotic ... vanilla bean infused (macerated actually) in Virgin

Coconut Oil. Imagine this in a

yummy lotion, cream or body butter.

Put some thought into it, and let your imagination fly, and you'll come up with

some ideas.
