Guest guest
Hey Gea, Trish hit the nail on the head with her post .. methinks. And I think its not unfair to discuss items in a course on a list. Though I'm not an educator by trade I did get my masters in Ed. Admin. and have taught a bit here and there .. and the one thing that always stuck with me was that teaching is about learning .. and testing should be be a tool to evaluate how well the student is learning .. and how well the teacher is teaching. Tests are not supposed to be designed to show what you don't know but rather to see if you understood the material that was hopefully presented in a manner that was easy to understand .. and tests should never contain information that was not taught .. nor information that is not important for the student to know. And finally .. taking tests can be real difficult if we depend on rote memory to pass them .. we need to understand concepts instead of facts in isolation. > Usually when I post inevitably I get mail making me feel stupider > than I did before asking the question. If you mean mail on the lists .. don't feel bad cause there are a lot of opinions out there .. some are based on fact and some on misinformation so don't feel stupid. You have to pass the test prepared by the person who is your teacher .. and I can think of one case where a lady wrote me and asked me a question .. I answered her .. and she came back and said she thought that was the answer .. but it was not one of the options on the test she took. She told me the four options and NONE of them were correct .. not even choosing the BEST answer was adequate cause they all were DEAD WRONG. Still .. the person had to pass that teacher's tests. > I am so overwhelmed, nothing- nothing seems to be sinking in. Write me off line and tell me the area of concern .. maybe I can help you to see the big picture. > I think that I have come to the conclusion that AT courses in general > are NOT a good way to learn. Depends on whether or not a person can do better in self study or if they need a group environment .. some folks learn better from lectures and others from self study and reading. I prefer reading myself. > It is time- believe it or not for me to write a paper on a AT topic, > well having completed what I believe to be a challenging course from > a respected teacher, I am more confused than ever and feel free to > take that out of context given the source, since I have more > questions than answers and the term Master Certification seems > laughable. Then somewhere along the line they might have not adequately laid out the big picture .. learning is a stepping stone process and you can't start in the middle. If you are behind .. can you delay the test or the paper you are required to write? > At one time this seemed like a good idea, a new begining for me, I > who cannot speak clearly, walk without assistance and many other > various inconviences can attempt at being useful once again, EO's > helped me, didn't cure me but helped, so why not try to find out why > when nothing else worked - unlock the " mystery " ? I see no reason that you would be less capable of learning about proper use of EO and AT due to what you have mentioned .. and I have just now checked a pile of your previous posts and they tell me that a dummy you ain't. ;-p > My confidence is waining rapidly. The controversy within this > industry makes my head spin, who to believe, who to look for for > guidance. I think you're just having a bad day .. and if you wait for controversy to be settled in this industry you'll be waiting the rest of your life. Who to believe NOW is the teacher .. the one who will give you a passing score. > I, from the moment I started learning about EO's took it seriously, > I researched every oil before I even opened it much less used it. I > took offense to the fact that I was spending money learning, yet > for a bit more money I could join a organization and peddle away > under a well known name and make $$$$$$$, I did not choose the ladder > and glad I didn't. Me too .. you done good methinks. ;-P > This list is very informative, I do appreciate the knowledge here, > just feeling the pressure that I put upon myself and no real point to > this post just rambling. > Gea Letting off steam is what its about .. and relieving stress and anxiety I hope. Sniff a few nice EO too and it'll help. Learning about EO is not difficult .. we look at the chemistry and the safety aspects and we're almost there. Learning about AT is a bit more subjective .. unfortunately. But it will pass .. like all things .. and you will have it behind you in good time. :-p Butch
