Hi Karen,

I'm doing a bit of research myself - but in my case it is the korean

war I'm looking for. I've found a few sites that are SO interesting,

and might be of help to you - dunno. Though I'd share them just in

case.

http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/

Military.com - search for the regiment

http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/reference/apcmp.htm

http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/reference/bird.htm - article about military

history on the net

http://www.archives.gov/facilities/index.html - can apply for military

records from here

I don't know if these links will help - finding out information about

one person is needle/haystackish, but it might be a place to start....

For the rest of you that are interested in military

history,(particularly WWII, European theatre) here's some interesting,

amazing, heartwrenching, and educational stuff:

http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/60nov/omaha.htm - article about the

landing at Omaha Beach from " The Atlantic " The Omaha Beach landing

was the one shown in Saving Private Ryan.

http://www.ibiblio.org/pha/events/index.html

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/war/wwtwo/index.shtml - WWII project from

the BBC

http://www.memoriesofwar.com/ - self explaintory

http://www.loc.gov/folklife/vets/sights-stories.html - Library of

Congress Veterans History Project

http://www.teacheroz.com/WWIILinks.htm - link to tons of links, lots

of personal histories.

Lastly, Don't forget the incredible HBO series, Band of Brothers, and

the book it's based on by Stephen E. Ambrose. There are more books

out there but this one is particularly readable history. Not dry at

all, well, not TOO dry. :) The series is really incredible, and did a

lot to encourage my intrest in the subject.

Oh I could go on. It's fascinating stuff. But that's enough to set

any curious mind on the path. :)
