Hey Chris, Sandra .. other good folks ..

Sandra asked:

> I don`t have any garlic or mullien oil so I was wondering if I could

> put a couple of drops of oregano oil in some olive oil and put it in

> my ear. I don`t have normal ear infections for I don`t hurt but I`m

> sure I have one, anyway is that ok to do.

And Chris replied:

> I wouldn't do it! I'd personally eat the oregano oil.

And I like the way you said you would " eat " it .. I too have moved away

from words like " take " it .. but adding a drop or three to a good bowl

of soup is finer'n frog hair split three ways.

Right .. strain very well .. cause garlic can cause great irritation if

placed on or near an already irritated area. The garlic bulbs are worse

than the garlic EO.

As for Oregano EO in the ear .. it shouldn't be placed in or on or

around ANY mucus membrane or sensitive areas .. it'll burn and make you

learn a new dance. This holds true for getting it on the outer lips ..

and to some degree inside the mouth .. but we can handle a heckuva lot

more inside our mouths than we can outside .. like hot peppers and

such.

I think its fair .. and safe .. to say that no EO in existence should be

placed in the ear .. they're too concentrated and too likely to cause

irritation or worse, sensitization .. even if its an oil that is not

considered to be a known sensitizer. And those of you who have messed

with steam-distilled garlic EO (Allium sativum) know it stinks like hell

and is far too concentrated to use on the skin .. its not really a known

irritant because its not intended to be used on the skin .. thus, there

has been no testing of it.
