Guest guest
Hi Chris, I have found chaparral infused in oil works best. I use sesame oil because of its healing benefits. Chaparral is excellent against inflammation, is anti bacterial, anti septic, anti a lot of things. It contains nor-dihydroguaiaretic acid [NGDA], which has been shown to have powerfrul anti tumor properties. According to vol. 19 of Biochemical Pharmacology, NGDA inhibits electron transport in the mitochondria, [the inside of cells], or the 'energy producing factories' within cancer cells, thereby depriving tumors of the electircal energy they require. Chaparral has also been shown t have good anti rheumatic properties which is specific to rheumatoid arthritis. There is Larrea Tridentata, which is the most common and most used, and there is Larrea Mexicana and Larrea Divaricata. I have not used those species so I can't tell anything about them. From what I have read they seem to be the lesser in potency than Tridentata, but I'm not sure. Chaparral is an excellent herb for aches and pains, depending of course, on the person and their aches and pains. Everything is subjective. I have made chaparral into lotions, creams, gels, tub teas, extracts and oils. Some of these I have on my website. I also sell the dry, wildcrafted chaparral along with the other products. My chaparral extract is only $3.99 for 1 oz. The rest of the world sells it for much more I see. To make an excellent massage oil for yourself with chaparral, get your favorite oil, and it can be ANY oil, it does not matter, put 1.5 to 2 oz in 16 oz of oil, and either put it in the sun to extract the properties, or in your crock pot set on the lowest setting. You want the warmth, however you get it. Since this is winter for most, let it 'stew' anywhere from 2 days to a week. Strain and use. If you don't like the smell, add lavender eo. I am doing my best to be 'brief', as I know I can go on and on about this wonderful herb. )) Janine Phariss www.BlueSageNaturals.com Fade scars, relieve pain, clear up eczema! Guest guest
- Christine Ziegler Thursday, December 04, 2003 10:59 PM Safe Formulas For Chronic Arthritic Pain Actually recieved this recipe from someone on this list, I believe. It was listed for relaxing tight muscles.. However, I have found it to be excellent for Arthritic pain. Have tried many different oils and herbs but this one works best for me. Suggest a person may have to try several different ones to find one that works well for them.. recipe: equal parts of following EO's. Spikenard Roman Chamonile Petitgram Clary Sage I use it at a 4% dilution, a little high for some, but works for me. Others can try it at smaller %. Would like to thank the person who sent this in.... Thank you. Karleen O'Connor With all the talk of how bad the use of Wintergreen and Birch are, especially for continual use, I'm wondering what would be a truly good, effective, SAFE pain relieving topical application ointment/rub for older folks to use on a regular basis, especially when they are REALLY achy? *Smile*
Guest guest
Yo Chris, > With all the talk of how bad the use of Wintergreen and Birch are, > especially for continual use, I'm wondering what would be a truly > good, effective, SAFE pain relieving topical application ointment/rub > for older folks to use on a regular basis, especially when they are > REALLY achy? What is older? Older than what? And how achy is REALLY achy? ;-p You might wanna consider for Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter aged folks the following oils: Helichrysum italicum .. gotta be Corsican cause its a different profile. Lavender (L. angustifolia) .. Bulgarian or French OR .. Lavandin (L. x. intermedia) .. matters not a lot where its from. Chamomile, Roman (Anthemis nobilis) .. I prefer the American origin. Chamomile, German (Matricaria chamomilla) .. same here .. American. Tansy, Blue (Tanecetum annum) .. Reckon we gotta go with Moroccan. Pepper, Black (Piper nigrum) .. I prefer that from Madagascar. Carrot Seed (Daucas carota) .. probably Origin is not so important. Rosemary, Cineole (Rosmarinus officinalis) .. Can be Moroccan, Turkish or Tunisian .. matters not long as its Cineole Chemotype. Need a good carrier so it will slippy and slidey all over the body .. so mebbe Fractionated Coconut (Cocos nucifera) cause its clear, odorless, stainless and has a shelf life of 4,752 + years. > Most of the commercial products available are laden with Methyl > salicylate. Yep .. that's a fact. FAR too much .. check these out: Check the out for Ben Gay. http://store./buyinprivate/benorfor4ozt.html Active ingredients are Methyl Salicylate 18.3% and Menthol 16%. Check this one for Icey Hot. http://www.home.intekom.com/pharm/searle/icyhot.html Active ingredients are Methyl Salicylate 29.02% and Menthol 7.65%. Note the comment: PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION: Methyl salicylate relieves pain by a counterirritant action. When rubbed on the skin it produces mild irritation and is absorbed to an appreciable extent. And read the Side-Effects and Special Precautions .. if that is not a Cover the Butt Statement what is? And they KNOW that nobody is going to follow those directions .. especially folks who suffer chronic pain and get relief .. will they consult a doctor after 10 days? And if KNOWN SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSAGE AND PARTICULARS OF ITS TREATMENT: is not enough to get folk's attention .. what does it take? Methyl salicylate is a dermal and oral toxin and there is not one person in the world of chemistry or medicine who will tell you otherwise. It does not process well .. it builds up in the body so using the same amount every day is giving you a higher and higher dose each day. It IS an effective TEMPORARY pain reliever .. but so is morphine and even cocaine .. or for that matter getting shit-faced drunk. > I can speculate what should be a good combo of herbs and oils, but > being that I thankfully do not at this point in my life suffer from > any kind of chronic arthritic aches and pains I'm not myself a good > guinea pig to tell what REALLY is most effective for those awfully > painful days. I'm wondering if anyone here has any person insight into > this one? Yea .. see the terms " counterirritant " above and read it as replacing one irritant with another .. that is perzackly what it means. So I'm thinking that since Wild Turkey tastes and smells better than Methyl salicylate .. and alcohol doesn't build up in the system .. a morning hangover is probably more healthy in the long run than dosing with the above two commercial products .. or one a person would make for their own use. ;-p > *Smile* > Chris (list mom) > http://www.alittleolfactory.com I am smiling .. cause I think (and hope) I might have been successful in scaring the crap out of maybe one or two folks .. and that means I done done good fer an old kuntry boy. ;-) And y'all keep smiling too. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
