Guest guest
Has anyone experimented with myrrh in different forms? Am wondering about uses of myrrh essential oil versus powder or tincture. One common use is as a mouthwash (or for mouth sores). Also has listed action to remove excess mucus from lungs (I guess in tincture form). Michael
Guest guest
Dear Michael, I have myrrh extracted. It's been that way for a year. I'm not sure what to use it in, but I have added it to neem and chaparral extract and used it to brush my tooth and gums. lol that sounds funny. But hey, I also used straight neem oil on my tooth and gums back in 2001. Haven't tried grinding it up, am not sure if it would gum it up or not. Haven't tried burning it I don't think. hmmm, maybe I'll turn on the fire and try it. Guest guest
Hi Michael, Myrrh EO has its beneficial properties, but for mouth issues (which it is wonderful for) I'd use the powdered resin. You're correct about the use of the tincture being the one for mucus and such, but be careful when taking resins like myrrh internally as they tend to not eliminate from the body so quickly and can cause other negative health issues if one over does it (as with most things, actually . Myrrh is a fabulous disinfectant - all forms! Diffusing that oil in a sick room bland will help kill those nasty germies. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com Michael Gest [mhgest] Sunday, November 23, 2003 2:31 PM Myrrh oil, powder, tincture Has anyone experimented with myrrh in different forms? Guest guest
> Hey Chris, Hi Dorothy, > So would you suggest that the powdered resin would be good for canker sores as a preventative or just a treatment after the sore developes??? A mouthwash made with myrrh, sea salt, aloe and goldenseal tea usually helps clear up canker sores faster. > And while on the subject is there any definitive answer as to what causes canker sores?? Canker sores are actually cause by an imbalance of the body's pH! The best way to take care of them is to prevent them. Restore the body's pH balance by eating a mineral rich diet including salads, steamed broccoli, whole grains, sea veggies, eating more cultured food (such as yogurt, fermented products - like fermented beets, fermented pickles, raw sauerkraut, etc ...), reduce the intake of red meats, refined foods and sugars, caffeine laden foods, and fried foods. That doesn't mean you can't have fun though - red wine is actually pretty good for ya for this purpose When I was younger I did an apple cider vinegar tonic and I can't tell you how many things it helped take care of, and some of the issues never ever came back as a problem. Getting canker sores was thankfully one of the problems that went away! > Thanks Dorothy *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com

Guest guest
> And while on the subject is there any definitive answer as to what causes canker sores?? Not an expert here, especially as I don't get them. I see Chris says it's a pH thing, and Butch says it's a bacteria thing. Maybe both, as in if you have the bacteria in your system, a pH balance keeps it in check or dormant, and when the pH is out of whack, the bacteria wakes up. Anyhoo, hubby gets canker sores from oranges. Anytime he drinks juice, eats an orange, or eats anything with orange in it, he gets them. Even a single sip or bite will do it. If I remember correctly, tangerines do it to him too. He loves oranges, but can't have them. Oddly enough, he can drink and eat pineapple without a problem, and doesn't have a problem with lemons either. His mother is the same way, so it can be hereditary apparently. By the way, I was disappointed to find yesterday that my nice sandlewood oil that I got from you had leaked out of the little bottle (without dropper top) by my leaving it sitting on it's side. Thankfully, I kept the rose oil upright. The little bottles don't seem to be leakproof. (my fault entirely) Michael
Guest guest
Hi Michael, > Seems that all oils by nature are disinfectants...oregano, lemon, tea tree, etc. etc. Most of them are, some more so than others > You are missing a big freeze in Colorado but also the latest 1 " or more snowfall on record for the Front Range. Wow, latest one on record! I was surprised we didn't get snow before I left early/mid October. We actually got some of your cold air here yesterday, it was downright chilly yesterday in the low 50's and it went down to 32 here this morning. It seems to be rebounding today into the mid 60's, still feels like fall now > By the way, I was disappointed to find yesterday that my nice sandlewood oil that I got from you had leaked out of the little bottle (without dropper top) by my leaving it sitting on it's side. Ya know I haven't really had that problem, but occasionally a bottle isn't made quite right, or a cap was made slightly incorrectly, or it wasn't closed quite right Was it one of the bottles with the little cone liner in it (the little " plug " in the cap)? How much sandalwood did you lose? I'm sorry! Michael *Sad About Your Sandalwood* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
