Hi Sandy,

I believe evodia is contraindicated in cases of yin deficiency with heat

signs, and her red tongue with little coat sounds possibly yin deficient to me.

However, the proof is in the puddin', and if she responds well to evodia,

terrific. I have used a product called Yin Care with great results, either as a

douche or soaked on a tampon.

Best Wishes!

Vulvadynia

Hi all,

Has anyone treated vulvadynia?

I am looking for additional help with a current client. Here are

some of my thoughts about her case, presented with her permission.

This person has had vulvar itching for a long period of time, from

age 12 to 26. When she initially came in for treatment, her pulses

were razor tight and the left proximal position (water pulses in 5E

terms) were extremely deficient. Various treatments helped that

situation over time. Among them were clearing blocks used in the

5Element tradition, dispersing stagnant liver qi using liver

meridian points and using the four needle technique to tonify the

Kidney. I also have used the Temper Fire version of Zhi bai di huag

wan to help disperse damp heat in the lower jiao; and we used Gui

Pi tang to protect and support blood and qi. Her tongue is pulled in

at the sides, which I believe indicates a severe deficiency of qi

and blood. It is somewhat red with no significant coat.

One day she came in with a sore throat and I gave her some Gan Mao

Ling. The change in her pulse the next week was remarkable and I

suspected that the warmth of the evodia helped open and disperse the

tightness on her pulse, and evodia's effect on the liver helped to

move stagnant qi. Her experience of itching that week continued to

decrease at the same rate it had been: the whole situation is slowly

improving with time and treatment.

I am looking for comments on the use of evodia, and I am interested

in comments about my treatment as well as other ideas in the

treatment of vulvadynia.
