Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I have been invited to present acupuncture to school-aged children ( appx 8- 13 ) at a school health fair. I am trying to collect ideas of what type of TABLE presentation maybe of interest to the children...Does anyone have any ideas or experience doing such an event ... Needling anyone would be out of the question and so would any type of taste sampling of herbs...... Ideas I am working with are: 1. A brief handout regarding tongue diagnosis..... 2. One or two plates with samples of the more interesting herbs etc .... ie scorpion, earthworm , flowers , aromatics ..... 3. A board or pin cushion with different needles ..... If you have any other ideas, tips or comments please contribute ..... The event is this Friday ..... Thank you -Mary

Guest guest
Hi Mary, I used an earacupuncture stim probe and just demonstrated on the kids how the sound changed when you are on an actual acu point. I used LI11..they got a kick out of it. I also made them look at each others' tongues:.lots of chatter and giggles there to discover individuality. The same with the pulse. I also brought in a sample chicken soup (ITM) with the blurb) and pacets of neddles of course. hope this helps Verena - " moleksowicz " <moleksowicz <Chinese Medicine > Sunday, April 23, 2006 7:36 PM Ideas for presenting Acupuncture to Children ..... > Hello Everyone, > > I have been invited to present acupuncture to school-aged children ( > appx 8- 13 ) at a school health fair. Guest guest
You could also have them draw on some easy to locate points with a china-graph pencil. Nothing like the prospect of drawing all over each other to get a kids interest. Guest guest
If you would like I have the text from a book I've written. it is a children's book about acupuncture. the book has not been published yet as I have not found an illustrator (Last one bailed on me without finishing the project) it's called my daddy's an acupuncturist. it's written along the lines of those first time going to the doctor books btw if you know any illustrators who want to help me finish the project let me know. I couldn't draw my way out of a paper bag Chinese Medicine , " moleksowicz " <moleksowicz wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > > I have been invited to present acupuncture to school-aged children ( > appx 8- 13 ) at a school health fair. Guest guest
Great ideat Brett. I would like to see the book with illustrations. Hopefully, one of us will come up with an artist. It is not me. Can you also do a version of " My Mommy's an Acupuncturist. " Some think I am a little " different " in this conservative county I live in. Wouldn't mind going into a school and talking from a book like that. Yes, I would be interested in the text too.
