Guest guest
I am in the process of writing this up as a case report for Acupuncture Today, but I thought I might pass the information through here as well. a 19 year old female who has been on paxil for two years for panic disorders was unable to continue paxil as her insurance ran out. As some may or may not know Paxil and certain other anti-depressants are known to have serious side effects upon removal from the protocol including agitation, nausea vomiting thoughts of suicide... The patient was taking 20mg of paxil at night. she took her last dose of Paxil on 05/01/04 then began my treatment. I performed 2 acupuncture treatments on May 1, and May 8, using LI4 LV3 Taiyang I placed the patient on a regiment of chai hu long gu mu li wan (Plum Flower) for a period of 1 1/2 months. The suggested dosage was 8 pills 3x/day I placed her on 12 pills 3x/day then reduced the dosage to 8 pills after 2 weeks. over the course of another month I reduced the dosage by 2 pills until the patient was completely off the chai hu. her last dosage of chai hu was taken on June 19th Since that time the patient has had no debilitating panic attacks, nor did she suffer from any of the side effects commonly associated with Paxi withdrawel during the treatment.
