Guest guest
Hello Tom! I am right now taking part in a Shen-Hammer pulse course running for 10 days divided into 3 parts, all with a month in between. I must say that the course is excellent; the teacher is very good with more than 20 years experience in Chinese medicine. I find this system very different from the classics, mostly because of the many different complementary positions and the solid knowledge of what different mixes of pulse qualities can tell us I our centuries (for example, a slow rate in this system is much more considered in the terms of prolonged unresolved shock to the heart since few of us in the west are exposed to cold in the way people were centuries ago). I believe that this course and the knowledge gain through it should be standard knowledge among practitioner of Chinese medicine! So, if I were you, I would not hesitate to participate in the course in the near future. The knowledge (practically!!!!) will forever change and very much improve your diagnostic ability and increase the benefit for your patient! If so, did you find it useful? Does it vary considerably from the classical methods? There is a course near me, and I'm weighing up whether to try it (I'm in the 2nd year of study, and feel very confused about pulse diagnosis). Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks, Tom K. Guest guest
Carl, Is the course you are on the one in Reading, UK? I know there's one running there at the moment, and I would have considered taking part had I known about it earlier. I may well enroll next time they run it - the last section, where the teachers give direct feedback relating to real patients' pulses sounds very useful. I'd love to hear how you get on with the rest of the course... Tom.
