Guest guest
Hi All, acdoc11 said: > The schools have been at odds with the practitioners from day one. And not only TCM Schools! IMO, Hospitals, Universities and most Edu centres are BUSINESSES today. Their priority is to keep the places full and maintain cash-flow. They lose sight of their real goal - to serve their USERS (students / clients / patients) to the best of their ability. By definition, the MAIN goal of any Edu centre is to prepare students to be top practitioners. This requires that the TEACHERS be not only academics but ALSO top practitioners. In my experience (as a vet in contact with contemporaries in the vet schools), I KNOW that TEACHING is way down the priority list of many vet schools. Funding ( " getting the money in " ) and research get higher priority than teaching. IMO, it should be mandatory on Edu establishments to have some top practitioners / clinicians in residence for a few months per year to pass on their practical clinical skills to the students. Sadly, this is rarely the case. Many practitioners whom I know define academics as " failed clinicians " . This need not be true, but it is true in many cases.
