Guest guest
Re-Sloan Kettering-They hired a couple of people, but had to let a few go, as patient demand was not as high as anticipated. SMK paid $20/hr and MD Anderson paid $40k a year, and also wanted bilingual, if possible. Perhaps MD Anderson is paying that irregardless of their patient load. The staff seems totally not together-I think their acupuncture clinic started with a grant from a concerned benefactor, and suspect the grant money has dried up, but they keep it up for show. I tried to contact them several time over a period of three weeks and it was a fiasco all around. Cancer patients as a whole don't seem to be interested in getting acupuncture, despite what we might believe, even when the MD is for it and suggests it to his patient. There is an oncology group in my town that does have a contract acupuncturist and the billing staff will try to get reimbursemtn for the patient, but the acupuncturist is only seeing 3-5 patients a week there. I'll be interested to hear how the St Vincent gig goes. I'll be in NYC in April and would love to hear positive sucess stories to make up for MD Anderson and Dana-Farber.
