Guest guest
I have very good success with appropiate chinese formula, kidney and blood related points and rosemary tea as a hair rinse (kills many fungal infections and invigorates the blood/brings it to the surface). Also 7 star needling. If it is alopicea (sp?) often times stress/liver qi/ht related. I'm seeing signs and symptoms suggestive of Spleen and Kidney Yang deficiency, with perhaps some mild blood deficiency. I'm treating her mainly with herbs. She would like to know how sucessful TCM has been for other people with hairloss. Any sucess rates anyone could share to reassure her? (I had to be honest and say I hadn't treated this before, but could certainly find a basis for treatment). I can post the herbal formula and more of the presentation if anyone is interested. Guest guest
Bob, Gabrielle, et. al, Yes, there are a lot of herbal formula that address hair loss issues for different patterns. However, I have seen and heard pretty limited successes even among quite experienced practitioners. I'd be curious about the statistics, as opposed to a couple of successful cases here and there. A (maybe) related problem is women who complains about loosing hair on the head while gaining more pubic hair. I attribute the increase of pubic hair to the increase of relative proportion of male vs. female hormones when they approach 40. Any thought on this? Mike L. Guest guest
there is also, apparently, a mite that lives in the follicles. tea tree oil massaged into the scalp is good, according to Balch and Balch. I had a similar problem, used the tea tree oil and took kelp. Hair's back and better! Guest guest
Actually except for male pattern baldness and one case of OCD/hair puller I have not had a failure in about 15 cases over about 4 years. Good diagnosis and the use of multiple modalities are key, massage, seven star, acupuncture and internal and external herbs. I also use both traditional chinese formulas as well as western herbs. a change in pubic hair I might look at a disorder of the chong or ren meridians.....don't know if that tranlates to a hormone imbalance but likely a good guess. When we look at the symptoms that we relate to those meridians there are close correlations to hormones. Guest guest
Yes, Gabrielle: I have a patient coming to me tommorrow to ease the pain of heel spurs. I noticed her has is thininng a lot for her age - looks in her late 30's. It just screams of KI to me when I first see this. Of course you will do an overall diagnosis. KI and water points to include. I really use source points on water BL and KI whenever I see water signs. Anne gabriellemathieu wrote: > I have a woman in her late thirties visiting me for hair loss. Guest guest
a combination of tretinoin (commonly known as Retin-A) and a 5% solution of Minoxidil are far more effective than Minoxidil --- " Bob Linde,AP, Herbalist " <boblindeherbalist wrote: > Actually except for male pattern baldness and one > case of OCD/hair puller I have not had a failure in > about 15 cases over about 4 years.
