I used to do home visits earlier in my practice, and found I could usually guarantee that the patient would back out of treatment when they were showing signs of improvement, whilst they showed little motivation towards improving their lif style.. Several instances also made me question whether the role as invalid was too important to the family dynamic. This soon became more apparent with urgent home visits for patients who normally come to my practice,as for instance after hospital discharge. Their motivation and attitude was totally different. Now I refer enquiries requesting home visits to other practitioners, but will do a home visits for long term patients.
