Guest guest
Hi Pete, This is an interesting question! Here is my answer based on both my own practice and what I observed in China. First, normal menstrual flow is bright red like normal blood so the whole thing is a bit misleading. The red that happens when there is heat in the blood, empty or full, is crimson and the blood quality becomes more viscous. I can't differentiate empty heat or full heat by the quality or quantity of the blood. This differentiation comes from other signs and symptoms such as and especially tongue. Hope this helps, Sharon On Jan 18, 2006, at 7:54 AM, Chinese Medicine wrote: > Hi Everybody! > > What is the visual difference between Fresh Red menstrual blood > (associated with Empty Heat in the Blood) and Bright Red menstrual > blood > (associated with Blood heat). > > Neither I nor the patients know how to tell one from the other. > > Regards, > > Pete > Sharon Weizenbaum 86 Henry Street Amherst, MA 01002 413-549-4021 sweiz www.whitepinehealingarts.com
