Guest guest
Hello, I have a patient who is suffering a strong lumbar pain that irradiate to legs 1 or 11/2 weeks before her menstruation. My usual treatment for lumbago (ciliaos, Yinmen, Weizhong) works fine for relief the pain, but at the next month it comes back. I used, too, xuehai, guanyuan, diji and sanyinjiao, but no effects. She is veterinary and thinks that could be an endometriosis, A colleague thinks that could be a inflammation of sacral articulations by hormonal factor. What do you think? Suggestions? 29 years old, 1 child (5 years old), sports 3 times at week, in general very healthy, right weight. Tongue: a little pale, with tooth marks. Pulse: fine, but a little slippery. Thanks, Fdo.
Guest guest
Hi Fernando, I had a similar patient to this. She was diagnosed by her M.D. as having endometriosis. She also had pain running down the side of her leg and buttocks. I used Huantiao, Baohuang and Zhibian which helped but the pain would come back a few days later. I diagnosed it as cold obstruction in the womb. She had all the classic symptoms of Wen Jing Wan formula. It helped. Ask her if she has cold hands and feet and has any pre menstrual bleeding. I would advise her to lay off too much exercise as it sounds like her Spleen is deficient. I'm sure she probably doesn't eat well too. Check that too. Moxa on Mingmen is helpful, try that. Guest guest
Have you thought about needling the chong. The chong and the spleen channel (cannot remember source although it has been mentioned by several Japanese practitioners) have an internal connection to the lumbar area hence the connection of lumbar pain to menstration. Hope this helps. Mike W.
