Guest guest
David, Are you saying that it is legal in other states for L Ac to perform this procedure? I would find it interesting to find an MD/DO who would refer this to us. Even with the referal I would not think that it is w/i our scope of practice in other states. Mike W. Guest guest
Is expensive relative to a similar course by another profession that uses similar practices, with hands on and an extensive presentation, or a didactic program with perhaps a few examples of needling? Very big difference here. Guest guest
Generalized statements are meaningless. One needs to do a comparative analysis. Which course, which profession and then what price. Not all courses are equivalent within a profession. Not all courses are equivalent between the professions. Guest guest
I don't find the referral rare, and in fact have gotten it every time I have asked. I am only too happy when Om providers have access without MD's, but the best way to gain access is to establish safe and effective use, unless one has the money and political capital to push a bill thru, which in most states is a moot point due to our professions' self-divisiveness. I would suspect that AP's who have good relations with MD's and have the education and the patient's request may well get a referral.
