Guest guest
Thank you Mike and Ming for your responses re: South Baylo. I did recently attend an Open House there. It was very informative and included a student Q & A session as well as a tour. Of course, they would only present their school in the most positive light :-) so I was interested in learning if past students were satisfied with the education they received there. For instance, at the open house, our packet contained a list of pass rates on the licensing exam (the same list that is available on the CA acupuncture board website) but omitted the last column which overall pass rates. They only included the 1st time takers pass rate (80% vs. 49%). Thanks, Trish
Guest guest
Trish, I went thru the SBU pass rates for the CA exam for the last five years (2000-2005) and come up no where near 80% in fact if we add all the columns for first time takers and even add in overall for 8/05 (when all stats are added together) we get only 66% (608 pass) and 34% (314 fail). This is being generous as the most recent stats include both first and repeat takers. I would ask them to defend their stats. Maybe most of their grads are having to take this exam several times before passage (if so, how many times are they having to repeat it?). That is a sign of concern that is not shared by some other CA programs. Their numbers probably came from one single year. For a more reflective summary an average over several years is suggested. The schools with the best rates are five branches, PCOM, emperor's. Check these out if you interested as well. Good luck on this search. Mike W. Guest guest
Alon, Forgot to mention them as they are located in the bay area and not in So Cal. This person seemed interested in schools down around the LA area. Good program though. Mike W.
