Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a 49 yo patient who has chronic constipation as her chief complaint. She also has a history of fibromyalgia and states that she is under a lot of stress which she manages with difficulty. Her tongue is red, without coating in the front and with a thick white coating mid to rear region. Her pulse is 88, irregularly irregular being thready and wiry. It also seems to disappear with deep palpation. She is slightly overweight mostly in the lower extremties. She uses laxatives in pill form, and as enemas which she is using now without much relief. She feels bloated most of the time. Her stools recently have been pebble like and very dry. Her urine is cloudy. My diagnosis was Liver Qi Stagnation with accumulation of damp in the lower jao and heart fire. I used Lv3, LI4,G20, SJ6, St 37, St 25, St 28, St 29 and R6 to move the Qi and promote bowel evacuation without success. She has had one acupuncture treatment for this problem so far. Any ideas on other acupoints as well as herbs found effective? Her medications taken are Adderall for ADD and Cymbalta and the former for fibromyalgia daily plus a sleeping medication prn. Thank you, Carole
