MS Treatment

Hi Nicholas,

I have a little experience with MS (about 10 patients) and offer what I can

here.

Maciocia writes abuot MS in his Practice of and lists

Liver, Kidney and Spleen deficiency as the underlying culprits. He

characterizes MS exclusively in terms of deficiency but it seems to me that

excesses have a good probability of occurring as well. Nevertheless, the

strongly predominant characteristic in my patients was deficiency and I used

a moxa box and needle moxa on BL 22, BL 23 at every treatment. Wang Le Ting

(See Golden Needle, Blue Poppy Press for a discussion by his students of

this formula) used a tonifying point formula for extreme deficiency in this

order. BL 13, BL 15, BL 18, BL 20, BL 23, BL 17. I've been very pleasantly

surprised by the efficacy of this formula. I also used classical formulas

in raw herbs with all of the patients I could convince to choke them down

because I find them to be stronger than mass-produced formulas and you can

tinker with the individual doses of the components.

Somewhere I learned of a specific subtype of Liver Blood Def. called Liver

Blood Not Nourishing Sinews. A middle 20th Century translation changed

sinews to ligaments, tendons and nerves. Since MS is defined as

demyelination of nervous system covering, I think it can be included in

Liver Blood Not Nourishing Sinews. So that and the contributors to it

(Spleen and Kidney Def) need to be addressed. Also, Blood Stagnation due

to Def. is likely to be present.

Hope this helps.

JOE
