Guest guest
gabrielle: If your back hurts after a chiropractic treatment ,maybe you should look for a different chiropractor .As ,in any type of medicine, some are more skilled than others but all cost the same.Normally I would not mention chiro tx. on this site but I wanted to help you stop the migraines. I have found a C1/C2 subluxation in every migraine I have seen. If they don't have this, I send them to Western Medicine to get a CAT scan as it will be a tumour or an aneurysm. Release the muscle groups with acupuncture first for 20 minutes and then use some gentle Tuina techniques to rotate the neck gently away from the " muscle knob " you will feel at this area. Normal range of motion is all that is required. Make a contact with your index finger on the ashi point and concentrate your movement from this point. Again- only normal range of motion. You will find, after it has been relaxed using acupuncture, it will move gently back into it's proper position. After this, find out how your patient sleeps. I have found most suffering this problem sleep on their stomach with their head turned to one side. Overnight, the small muscles, when relaxed will stretch to make this position more comfortable- but not in the morning when they want to look both ways. I have also found a " Tempur " pillow to be very good at keeping the neck in the proper position while sleeping. I hope this helps. I have not had a patient with migraines that it did not help - stopping the headaches until they slept in a poor position again out of habit. Guest guest
HI Gabrielle, I " m taking a wild guess that your patient is Qi and Blood Def. So moxa on DU 20 seems like a good idea to me since it will raise Qi and Blood close to the Def area, but she needs more Qi and Blood to resolve the H/A's. Also I recommend dredging the channels where they supply the painful area. Put one needle upstream of the pain, one needle downstream and one in the most painful spot and use dispersing technique on all of them and then use a moxa stick along the natural direction of the channels in the painful areas. Apply the moxa long enough to tonify the area ( " inject more Qi " ) since the H/A's are hypothetically due to Def.Applying the moxa will take longer than usual because of the hair. It may be necessary to strongly dredge the channels. In that case you cna insert needles longitudinally in the channel from upstream of the pain to a point just downstream and needle a point onthe same channel around the ankle or foot.
