Guest guest
Info on the state of Acupuncture and CM in Denmark: As most Group members might be aware in most European countries acupuncturists can only work under the supervision of an MD. Well, that's about to change in Denmark. A new law has passed: From January 1st 2007 acupuncturists will be able to practice without the supervison of an MD. This year the Danish Ministry of Health issued a license for Alternative Medical Practitioners (incl. CM practitioners, reflexeologists, phyto therapists, and more) to be distributed from governmentally approved associations of various altenative medicine practices. This license is not a must-have to practice, but it will ensure patients that the holder of this license fulfills minimum requirements of education set forth by the government. Also patients who see a practitioiner holding this license will have - for the first time in Denmark - a right to make complaints about treaments, thus ensuring patients a better quality of treatments. The Danish government is financing research on the use acupuncture/meditation in the treatment of cancer and MS at two major universities here. A major hospital has announced that it has invited to TCM doctors from China to come to work at their dept.s for Oncology and for Pain management for six months as a trial of what benefits could be drawn from integrating CM and WM.l All in all it has been a great year for acupuncture and CM in Denmark this year - hope improvements will continue at this pace Best regards, Thomas Sorensen
