Does this mean that speed is a Ma Huang by-product?

One of the lesser known reasons for the ma huang 'ban' in the US was

the fact that speed labs were some of the biggest customers for ma

huang and derivatives. One herbal company I know was busted by the

FDA for selling (unknowingly, I believe) ma huang in large quantities

to speed labs.

Is it actually completely banned in the US? It's banned in Belgium as well-

because cyclists who had tested positively for the use of ephedrine would

testify like: " Me? Ephedrine? No way, I had a cold and I went to see my

Chinese doctor, is all. " After that, no more ma huang. It can still be

obtained from other countries though.

It is still available as a raw herb. Also, its future is uncertain

as a supreme court decision in Utah stated that it couldn't be banned

without proof that it was harmful in small doses.
