Guest guest
Hi Lisa, How are things going? We went to school together, I believe. I took one of Blue Poppy's internet courses, and Bob Flaws says sleep apnea points work when trailed in China, but he recommends treating at least twice a week. He also lists the pattern for herbal prescriptions. Obesity is a percipitating factor for sleep apnea, so your patient may need a high dose for this to be effective. (Generally, over 180 lbs, I used 12 scoops of powder a day). If you want more information, onctact me off list. Take care, Gabrielle
Guest guest
Yes and no. One case was impossible to deal with, partly because of the patient's unwillingness to come for regular treatment or look at lifestyle. The first patient had severe problems with fibromyalgia which is not uncommon. The other was an extreme case of phlegm and overworked spleen. In this case recovery was a gradual process using acupuncture treatment and dealing with lifestyle, diet and stress, which was accompanied by step by step improvement. The interesting thing however was once the medical profession had rigged up equipment to provide more oxygenisation at night (almost a year later) , further recovery became rapid. I do not use herbs, but I found that Peter Deadman's Manual of Acupuncture provided some useful points, which gave temporary relief, which was a godsend for the patient. This patient still, occasionally has to resort to his equipment at night, but certainly not very often. Both cases were diagnostically completely different, so I don't think you will find a simple answer. What was common to both was problems with weight and diet.
