Guest guest
Hi all, It was gonna come sooner or later and I'm glad its come sooner. I've heard of horror stories about the quality of Chinese raw herbs, for example; lead being added to them to increase the weight and therefore their value. I've seen first hand detergents on sale in Beijing supermarkets for cleaning your fruit and vegetables. To remove the harsher pesticides with a lesser harmful detergent. Go figure. I therefore wonder the amount of pesticides on raw herbs! So I'm glad to announce that organic raw Chinese herbs are now available in the UK. And its not surprising that its the JCM selling them. Unfortunately, the down side is the cost. Enough to put you out of business! Anyway, its a good start. Warm regards, Attilio D'Alberto Doctor of (Beijing, China) B.Sc. (Hons) T.C.M., M.A.T.C.M. Guest guest
I wouldn't be so sanguine if I were you, because you can probably kiss your herbs goodbye, or they might become prohibitively expensive. Here in liberal California all Chinese herbal remedies - pills, powders, etc. - carry a so called Prop 65 warning stating that they may be unsafe because they might contain heavy metals. That puts them just a few more steps closer to being banned by a benevolent government. Already, because of various regulations I am finding herbs like ma huang, xi xin, mu li, ban xia, zhen zhu mu, and gui ban, among others, very hard, or impossible to obtain.
