Guest guest Posted October 29, 2005 Report Share Posted October 29, 2005 Not really TCM, but here's an article that investigated the introduction of the bonus system in hospitals in China http://www.human-resources-health com/content/3/1/11 It shows that doctors started to give more unnecessary care, meaning quantity increased, and quality probably didn't. It probably isn't much better in the West. Once I applied for a job in an expat hospital in Beijing. I was going to get the job, but then the general manager came in and told me that consultations don't bring money on the table. They help pay for real estate, but the real dough comes from the labs and the machines: scans, X-rays, blood tests,... So he cancelled the position altogether.
