Guest guest
Hi all, this is my first post. I have been lured from under my lily pad in the silent waters of internet lurking to post this message and trust that you receive it wih an open heart. I have read with interest, the flurry of activity generated by the discussion on success in the TCM business. I would like to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge on this board. While only a subset of members may post, the energy your thoughts carry travels far and unfortunately words in many cases are poor conveyor of meaning. To have chosen this path, each of you must have had a calling for healing. How your journey on this path manifests, is up to you. The fact that some experience difficulty while others experience abundance or a mixture of the two, is exactly as it should be. Success is in part created by passion and an unerring belief in what you are doing, but largely dependant on your thoughts and attitudes. This point was mentioned recently in relation to being pivotal to a person's healing. How you define success is another thing. In a broader perspective however, if any of you fail in your calling to TCM, then in one way, we all fail. Might I suggest that we open our hearts to people experiencing difficulty, put ourselves into their shoes and FEEL what it could be like, regardless of our own personal situation? Then perhaps any suggestions that are made will reach their intended destination with their intended purpose. For Pete: I can't possibly know what it's like for you - your situation must truly be trying and draining. It seems you have tried many things with limited success. But consider this: other's may look at your situation and not see the same things. Instead of barriers, they see opportunities. Instead of poor results to advertising, they see, perhaps like Thomas Edison, just one more thing to put down to experience. Open your heart to your situation and your community and you will see things in a new light. Don't look for finite outcomes in every action - sometimes 1 + 1 won't give you 2. With the right intentions, anything you do will yield much more than you expected. Everything that was ever written by someone was true for them. I don't know what your God model is, but might I suggest you read a book called The Diamond Cutter by Geshe Michael Roach? The fact that people are suggesting some reading, or meditating is because the answer to your predicament is within you, and people are just trying to give you alternative pathways to get to that knowledge. I could have suggested the Kabbalah or reading any of Byron Katie's books. But since monetary success seems to be eluding you at the moment, and TCM is a modality calling on wisdom from the east, maybe just maybe, this could be something that switches some lights on for you. ON ADVERTISING: On average, it takes 7 times to hear a message before it is adopted as part of a person's belief system. Why do you think advertising to children is pivotal to the success of so many junk food and toy companies? It is no different to adults. Advertising your practice will only be effective to the degree that TCM is percieved by a town's inhabitants as a valid modality. The barrier is not necessarily whether people trust you, but rather their perceptions on TCM. It seems that some populations may view TCM as " unGodly " . Therefore part of your self promotion would be to promote the modality (which of course many of you have done) and the benefits it provides over other modalities. This is a simplistic view of the situation, but I just wanted to give a reason why continuous advertising is important but it's not just about promoting your name and phone number. Until next time, love and blessings.
