Guest guest
Has anyone had any success treating virulent GI parasites/infections? My family has been struggling with some bug for 3 weeks that comes and goes with lots of awful smelling vomiting and diarrhea and sulfur belches/flatus. We all developed it at exactly the same time. My daughter wakes up vomiting for three hours at a time, for a week at a time, my wife too, both with watery yellow diarrhea, me just with gas and loss of appetite/nausea. Stool culture from my wife turned up nothing. Seems like giardia, but the vomiting part does not fit the picture so well. It goes away for three days or so, then returns with a vengeance. I have tried taking Artestatin (with qing hao) from Health Concerns, since I carry it, at 15 tabs/day. But it has made no dent in me or my wife with multiple days use. (I haven't found a good way to get my 3 year old daughter to take it in pill/powder form). Perhaps we haven't taken the herbs for long enough. I'm having trouble figuring out the TCM dx. Tongue is unrmarkable, pulse as well.
Guest guest
Hi, hmmm, just a thought but when the gut`s in a bad way, tablets are not the best form in which to take herbs - tinctures, teas and caps are better. If it`s giardia, goldenseal or black walnut (just the black!!) might be a better bet, plus lots (say 50-100 billion per day) of good gut bacteria. If that doesn't work, I have pretty much already staked out my claim for the effectiveness of time release Vitamin C in large dosage for *anything*, including those ailments that can't be identified. 12,000 mg spread out over the day 1000 - 2000 at a time. Time release, regular just goes through in a large dose. After you get back on track, 2000 mg per meal as a maintenance dosage. Guest guest
Oregano leaf extract, and grapefruit seed extract are a couple of anti-parasite remedies. Put 3-10 drops in a cup of water. It can be pretty rough to take and is as strong as some antibiotics, so start off easy. BaiChongWo, 1 cun above SP10 is a good diagnostic, although I don't know how well it treats it. HuoXiangZhengQiSan, BaiTouWengTang are possible herb formulas. Eating a bland diet and avoiding sugar in all forms helps. Is it possible to be E.Coli? If symptoms persist, you may need a trip to a parasitologist, they do more than just the stool test, which is not that accurate - one told me it is only 65% accurate. The bugs can hide in places and not always show up in stools. -brian beard Chinese Medicine , " Benjamin Hawes, L.Ac. Guest guest
At a seminar that I went to last Fall, Jake Fratkin stated that anti- parasitic formulas need to be rotated every 30 days to remain effective. Otherwise, parasites will develop resistance to the herbal formula. The seminar was given by Golden Flowers, therefore, Jake suggested using Golden Flowers Oregano Oil formula for 30 days and then rotating to a different formula such as Wu Hua Tang formula or the Intestinal Fungus formula which was personally developed by Jake. The herbal formulas can be rotated long term. Acupuncture treatment should supplement the herbal treatment: Step One: Apply needle to LI-4 and ST-36 Step Two: Apply needle to BL-20 and GV-1 Step Three: Apply needle to CV-12, ST-25, CV-4, and CV-6. Note: Needle to elicit strong sensation. If the patient has no fever, continue with indirect moxa to the points of Step Three. In addition, ear acupuncture is helpful. Auricular points: Stomach, Small Intestine, Root of Auricle, Vagus Nerve, Sympathetic, Shen Men, Liver, Gallbladder, Spleen Method: Select three or four points per session and retain needles 20 to 30 minutes. Needle to elicit strong sensation.
