Since all of these lists have recently had discussions

on Malaria bearing Mosquitos i am forwarding this:

 

It could be argued that the mosquito is the most

dangerous creature on Earth. Recent cases of

mosquito-spread Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) have

Americans worried. And while cases of the illness are

on the rise in the US, mosquito-borne illnesses are

even more devastating in developing countries like

Malawi, Africa, where people regularly die from them.

What can you do to protect yourself from mosquito

viruses? Wear long sleeves and pants, apply bug

repellant, repair screens in your home to keep

mosquitoes out, and drain standing water from around

living spaces.

 

Rx for Survival also highlights the successes in

treating the mosquito viruses in developing countries.

Did you know that young children in remote regions of

Africa often perish because the signs and symptoms of

malarial fever go untreated until it is too late? When

the nearest health clinic is half a day's walk away,

it's even harder to get treatment. But where there are

programs to educate parents and provide free

anti-malarial medications, deaths of children under

five were reduced by 40% in Ethiopia and 53% in

Burkina Faso. And mosquito netting treated with

insectide placed over sleeping areas is a powerful

intervention to prevent malaria, since mosquitoes

generally come out to feed at night. One study showed

that 90% of the deadliest malaria could be prevented

with such bed netting.

Hi Bart!

 

Yes. I think some safeguards and a new protocol for safe handling.

Perhaps only for mosquitoes, deer ticks and the like, not for farm crop

pests.

here is the 5 element pattern of mosquito borne malaria

 

1. agent plasmodium vivax is infiltered in to the Blood - element Fire

2. the vector is the airborne mosquito anopheles - element Wind

3. vector spawns as larva in still waters - element Water

 

now turn this around to make it sequential, all 5 element is a sequence:

 

1. vector spawns as larva in still waters - element Water

2. the vector is the airborne mosquito anopheles - element Wind

3. agent plasmodium vivax is infiltered in to the Blood - element Fire

 

sequence so far:

 

Water - Wood - Fire

 

so who is the culprit element?

IMHO Steve Milloy is right up there (down there? out there?) with

Steven Barrett. Reading some of his ludicrous arguments and seeing

his obvious political agenda I can't trust anything he writes. (his

website has an agenda no doubt, and it isn't about honest impartial

reasoning).

Hi George!

 

Well, Milloy and Barrett hit your nerve, do they not! It is true,

however, that DDT was used for *everything* in the 50s - people, crops,

cattle - without regard for side effects. I remember, I was there with

the spray gun in my hand, never giving it a thought.

 

Now, as a medical professional with the benefit of *a*lot* of hindsight,

I can see this as a two-sided issue. DDT is wonderful at killing bugs,

but perhaps we should only kill the bugs that threaten to kill us?

 

If the bugs only cause cosmetic damage to leather, fruit and vegetables

maybe the risk of DDT on such bugs is too great.
